What is Tinea Pedis?

  • A common fungal skin infection

  • Also known as athlete's foot

  • Thrives in warm, humid environments

  • More prevalent with enclosed footwear use

Common Symptoms

  • Red, flaky skin appearance

  • Peeling or macerated skin

  • Affects areas between toes

  • Can spread across sole of foot

  • May present as:

    • Itching and burning sensation

    • Small red blisters

    • Moccasin-style rash pattern

Causes

  • Primary fungus: Trichophyton rubrum

  • Common in Australian climate

  • Spreads through:

    • Shared changing facilities

    • Pool areas

    • Shared towels and socks
