Sarah was part of the inaugural group of students to complete their Bachelor of Podiatric Medicine at UWA in 2009. A few years later, Sarah moved to Scotland where she completed a Master of Science in Motion Analysis with a thesis titled ‘Analysis of the kinetic and kinematic data in lower limbs during highland dancing’. Sarah recently completed a joint PhD between UWA’s Podiatric Medicine and Surgery Division and the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts at Edith Cowan University, entitled ‘Lower leg and foot contributions to turnout in pre-professional female dancers: A clinical and kinematic analysis’. She has a keen interest in sports medicine, in particular dance medicine.
Sarah has previously presented at conferences, including the 2019 Australian Society for Performing Arts Healthcare Conference, 2019 and 2017 Australasian Podiatry Conference, the 2018 International Association for Dance Medicine and Science Conference in Helsinki, Finland, the 2017 event of the same name in Houston, United States and the 2016 event in Hong Kong. She was also the invited guest speaker at the 2018 South Australian Podiatry Conference. She has also published 6 dance related articles in peer-review journals.
Sarah grew up in Nedlands and went to school at Iona Presentation College. This is where her love of water polo started. She lives with her husband Thomas, daughter Georgiana, son William and their rescue dog Herbie.
